- Annual fee: CHF 900, CHF 450 in the first year
- Additional cards: one metal Platinum additional card and four additional cards as American Express Gold Card or American Express Card included
The high-quality metal card has the highest annual fee in the American Express cosmos – but also offers the most attractive benefits. The Gold Card is therefore suitable for people who are happy with an affordable annual fee and still don’t want to compromise on convenience.

American Express Card: the classic with a low fee
- Annual fee: CHF 140, free for the first year
- Additional card: CHF 75
With the American Express Card, the annual fee is very low and even completely free for the first year. Nevertheless, various benefits are included, such as a comprehensive insurance package and attractive offers via American Express Selects.
BLUE credit card: favorable card with a chic design
- Annual fee: CHF 80, CHF 40 in the first year
- Additional card: CHF 40
The BLUE credit card from American Express has a stylish design and is available for a particularly affordable annual fee. This makes it a good beginner’s credit card. It also offers an insurance package and offers via American Express Selects.
Fees when paying with American Express
In addition to the annual fee, further costs may be incurred depending on the use of the credit cards:
- When withdrawing money from ATMs in Switzerland or abroad, American Express charges a fee of 4% of the amount, but at least CHF 10.
- For transactions in foreign currencies or abroad, 1.75% (Platinum Card) or 2.5% (other cards) is payable.
- Lottery, betting and casino transactions are treated in the same way as cash withdrawals from ATMs, i.e. they cost an additional 4% of the amount, with a minimum of CHF 10.
- Payment reminders are also subject to a fee and, depending on the card, American Express charges fees for services such as mailing abroad or paper statements.
American Express: Weigh up the annual fee and benefits

The annual fee is one factor in the decision, but the benefits included also play an important role. Important to know: If you redeem the benefits of the Platinum Card or Gold Card, the benefit value will quickly exceed the annual fee.
